Merlin
Falco columbarius


A common fall migrant along the Atlantic coast from Fire Island, Long Island to Cape May, New Jersey, to Kiptopeke, Virginia. Fairly common along other shorelines including Long Island Sound at Lighthouse Point, Connecticut and Lake Michigan at Concordia University in Wisconsin. Usually uncommon away from shorelines, but occurs throughout the United States and southern Canada. Mostly mid- September through mid-October. Relatively uncommon in the spring, but fair numbers can be seen at Cape Henlopen, Delaware and Sandy Hook, New Jersey over the first half of April.
